چکیده
Gromov-Witten theory is used to define an enumerative geometry of curves in Calabi-Yau 4-folds. The main technique is to find exact solutions to moving multiple cover integrals. The resulting invariants are analogous to the BPS counts of Gopakumar and Vafa for Calabi-Yau 3-folds. We conjecture the 4-fold invariants to be integers and expect a sheaf theoretic explanation. Several local Calabi-Yau 4-folds are solved exactly. Compact cases, including the sextic Calabi-Yau in P 5 , are also studied. A complete solution of the Gromov-Witten theory of the sextic is conjecturally obtained by the holomorphic anomaly equation.

Calabi–Yau m-folds (M,J, ω,Ω) are compact complex manifolds (M,J) of complex dimension m, equipped with a Ricci-flat Kähler metric g with Kähler form ω, and a holomorphic (m, 0)-form Ω of constant length |Ω| = 2. Using Algebraic Geometry and Yau’s solution of the Calabi Conjecture, one can construct them in huge numbers. String Theorists (a species of theoretical physicist) are very interested ...

In this paper we compute the integral cohomology groups for all examples of Calabi-Yau 3-folds obtained from hypersurfaces in 4-dimensional Gorenstein toric Fano varieties. Among 473 800 776 families of Calabi-Yau 3-folds X corresponding to 4-dimensional reflexive polytopes there exist exactly 32 families having non-trivial torsion in H∗(X, Z). We came to an interesting observation that the tor...

The original recursions for A2(d) ≡ nd(ψ̃, H) and B1(d1, d2) ≡ nd1d2(|;H2) do not involve any of the other terms. Using Lemma 1, the formulas (A.2) and (A.3) can be shown to satisfy the two recursions. The original formula for A1(d) ≡ nd(ψ̃H) expresses A1(d) in terms of B1(d1, d2). The formula (A.1) follows from (A.3) and Lemma 2. Originally, there are also the terms nd(ψ̃H,H ), but it is not hard...
